Seven drivers were caught drug driving and four drink driving in the Murray Mallee region over the weekend including three in the Riverland.
On Friday 11 July, Highway Patrols stopped a Holden sedan on Old Sturt Highway at Berri. The driver, a 60-year-old man from Cobdogla, was roadside drug tested and returned a positive result. He received a three-month instant loss of licence and may be summoned to appear in court at a later date pending the results of a forensic analysis.
On Sunday 13 July, Loxton Police stopped a Ford sedan on East Terrace, Loxton. The driver, a 56-year-old Loxton man produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.071, this was a subsequent drink driving offence. He was reported for drink driving and will appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
On Sunday 13 July, Loxton Police stopped a Mitsubishi Utility on the Old Sturt Highway, Berri. The driver, a 40-year-old Glossop man, produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.100. He was reported for drink driving, issued a six-month licence disqualification and will appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
