The annual Murray Cod fishing season gets underway this weekend.
Victorian Fisheries Authority CEO Travis Dowling says this is an exciting time for many anglers, and it draws people from across Victoria and New South Wales to the local community.
He also says cod can be caught using lures or bait, from a boat or on the shore.

Fisheries officers will be out and about helping people use proper handling techniques, and ensuring anglers are letting go of fish that are outside the fifty-five to seventy-five centimetre limit.
