Mildura Rural City Council has taken to social media to encourage locals and visitors to visit one of their facilities to stay cool in the extreme heat forecast over the next few days.
Local libraries are one option, with locations at Mildura, Merbein, Red Cliffs, Ouyen and Murrayville.

In Mildura, Irymple, Red Cliffs, Merbein, Ouyen, Underbool, Murrayville and Colignan you also have the option of attending the local swimming pool.
The Mildura Arts Centre and Mildura Sporting Precinct are also options.
Extreme heat can be dangerous for everyone, especially young people and the elderly.
There are some simple steps you can take to protect yourself and others, stay cool:
Use air conditioning or a fans
Wear light and loose-fitting clothing
Keep skin wet, using a spray bottle or damp sponge
Take cool showers or foot baths in cool tap water
Wrap ice cubes in a damp towel and drape around your neck
Block heat from entering your home with blinds or curtains.
Open windows and doors if you think it is hotter indoors than outdoors.
Consider spending some time in a cool place such as an air-conditioned shopping centre or public library or one of the facilities listed above.
Avoid vigorous physical activity.
Meanwhile, Swan Hill Rural City Council is offering free entry to its outdoor swimming pools.
That includes the Robinvale and the Manangatang facilities, with Nyah free from 3:00 this afternoon.
Swan Hill Council says it’s about helping keep the community safe and cool.
