MP says Sunraysia irrigators will be hurting with water buybacks

A local politician says irrigators along the Murray Darling Basin will be the ones hurting if the water buybacks planned by Labor goes ahead.

Federal MP Anne Webster says there’ll be a four-point-seven per cent decrease in irrigation water use if the government buys back 325 gigalitres of water.

The Member for Mallee says Sunraysia will face a 20 million dollar annual economic hit so water is sent to the seat of Boothby in Adelaide.

The local member has slammed the Federal Government as it tries to spin positives from a report on the impact of water buybacks.
