Mildura Youth Council announced

Mildura Rural City Council has a chance to hear from the region’s young people on what impacts on them.

The city’s first Youth Council has been established, with nine members appointed to a one-year term.

They first met earlier this month, and will be voting for a mayor and deputy.

Council says it’s a formal body to champion the voice of young people while allowing the youth council to have their say on policies, plans and strategies.

Youth Councillors:

Emily Ablett, aged 13, Olivia Cirillo aged 14, Lily Bell aged 16,  Jack (Doc) Heinrich aged 17, Georgia Gentle aged 19, Shyanna Vandermerve aged 19, Paris Ribarits aged 21, Nick Coe aged 22 and Jackson Mugenzi aged 23.

Members will also undergo leadership and other training to help support their role.
