Mildura’s landfill precinct is now solar-powered, with ninety-four 500 watt solar panels installed on the roof of the transfer station.
The panels are a part of a partnership between the council and Sunraysia Sustainability Network.
Councillor for Environmental Sustainability Jason Modica says Council and the SSN would share the electricity cost savings for the first decade of the arrangement, after which 100% of the savings will go to Council.

The SSN is the driving force behind the Mildura Eco Village next to the Mildura Landfill, the hub of environmental education and sustainable living for the community.
