Meringur officially out of Millewa women’s competition

The Millewa Football Netball League Board has announced that they have received an official confirmation from Meringur Football Netball Club advising that they will no longer be able to field a woman’s football side in the 2026 MFNL competition.

MFNC has had a core group training and playing regularly but haven’t been able to retain enough participants to field sides.

MFNC has been in regular contact with the MFNL Board for several weeks, trying to find a solution to this problem.

MFNC had notified the MFNL board prior to Mega Day that they were unlikely to take the field.

The MFNL Board will meet next week to work through the logistics of the draw and the playing futures of the women registered to MFNC.

The MFNL Women’s Football competition will continue in 2026 with fixtured games against Meringur to be listed as forfeits within the Play HQ platform.

The MFNL women’s competition has 134 players registered on Play HQ with all clubs listing strong numbers.
