Man charged with police pursuit and crash

Police have charged a 46 year old man with several offences following a police pursuit and crash that occurred in Broken Hill on 26 August 2025.

About 2:00am Tuesday 26 August 2025 police attempted to stop a red Holden Commodore on Depot Road, Broken Hill.

The driver of the commodore failed to stop, engaging police in a pursuit throughout local streets before it collided with two parked vehicles and a residential garden on Cummins Street, Broken Hill.

The driver exited the crashed vehicle, ran from the scene and was unable to be detained by pursuing police.

Following investigations, yesterday (Thursday 4 September) police stopped a vehicle travelling on Menindee Road, Broken Hill arresting a 46 year old man who is alleged to have been the driver during the pursuit and crash on 26 August.

The man who was currently on bail similar pursuit and driving offences was taken to Broken Hill police station where he was charged with 8 offences including; police pursuit – drive dangerously, drive whilst disqualified x 2, drive unregistered vehicle, not give particulars to owner of damaged property, refuse to submit to oral fluid test, not disclose identity of driver as required and possess drug.

He appeared before court Friday and had bail refused to re-appear at Broken Hill Local Court tomorrow, Tuesday 9 September 2025.
