Man avoids gaol after assaults and threats

A man has avoided gaol despite repeated assaults and threats to ruin his partners life after she ended their two-year relationship.

The man faced the Mildura Magistrates Court, where it heard the 19-year-old had accused the victim of cheating, pulled hair form her head, hit her in the face, spat at her and sent several menacing messages.

The court also hearing the man called her more than 100 times a day from a phone with no caller ID.

The Sunraysia Daily is reporting that when the man was arrested in August, he told police he couldn’t accept the relationship was over and knew the victim would feel horrible due to his actions.

It was deemed that the man was a low risk of re-offending and would be a suitable candidate for a Community Corrections Order.

He was also fined and convicted.
