A man has been arrested after he allegedly defrauded the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) of around $700,000 over a two-year period.
A joint investigation run by Hamilton Crime Investigation Unit detectives and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) commenced after a man allegedly defrauded his own NDIS plan between 28 June 2024 and 30 June 2026.
Investigators allege the man, who is an NDIS participant, established two businesses for the purpose of defrauding the NDIS.
It’s alleged the man submitted false invoices for services he claimed to receive and distributed the funds into his bank accounts.
Detectives will also allege that the man dealt with property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime.
Yesterday, a search warrant was executed at a residential property in the Horsham area, and a 48-year-old man was taken into custody.
He will be interviewed in relation to the incidents.

A spokesperson for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) said “The vast majority of NDIS participants and providers do the right thing and use Scheme funding appropriately.”
“We will continue to use intelligence, data analytics and joint investigations to identify, detect and disrupt fraud, so NDIS funding is protected for the Australians who rely on it.”
