Pets are putting their best paw forward to help raise funds for Lifeline Loddon Mallee this August, with the launch of the 2026 Lifeline Dog of the Year and Cat of the Year competitions.
Lisa Renato, Lifeline Loddon Mallee’s CEO, said the competitions are a novel approach for the local charity.
“The campaign celebrates the positive impact pets have on their owner’s mental health, while raising awareness and funds for Lifeline Loddon Mallee’s crisis support and suicide prevention services.” Mrs Renato said.
“We know there is a special bond between people and their pets, so this is a fun and meaningful way for pet lovers to celebrate the unconditional support of their furry family members while helping a great local cause.” Mrs Renato added.
The Lifeline Dog of the Year and Cat of the Year competitions are free to enter, and have fantastic rewards to recognise participants’ fundraising achievements, including custom made crochet replicas of beloved pets and personalised pet tags.
Supporters create a profile for their dog or cat on the competition website, then share their page with family and friends to compete to be crowned Lifeline Loddon Mallee’s Dog or Cat of the Year.
The top fundraiser in each category will be crowned Lifeline Loddon Mallee’s Dog or Cat of the Year and receive a portrait by renowned Bendigo artist Rhayven Jane.
