Mallee Family Care is welcoming a National housing and Homelessness Bill.

The local organisation says it’ll mandate the Federal Government to make a long-term plan to turn around the country’s housing system and ensuring everyone has an adequate home.

Mallee Family Care made a submission to a Senate Committee, highlighting the importance of including regional voices in the proposed legislation.

The group says it’s always believed housing is a basic human right, and prerequisite to be able to participate in all other areas of society.

MFC CEO Teresa Jayet said “MFC also supports the proposed National Housing Consumer Council and National Housing and Homelessness Advocate to ensure a transparent and consultative approach to the development and implementation of the 10-year plan.”
