Federal MP Anne Webster has addressed a rally in Canberra yesterday, focussing on what organisers are calling reckless renewables.

The Member for Mallee says a new report shows the failure of the Energy Market Operator and Transmission Company Victoria to secure a social licence for the VNI West Project.

The local member says “I made clear the importance of the need for developers to have social licence in the communities hosting any infrastructure.”

“Our prime agricultural land and pristine native bushland is too important to compromise.”

“Thank you to the Mallee contingent who made the long journey.”

The review by Energy Infrastructure Commissioner found 92 per cent of respondents were not satisfied with the level of engagement from renewable energy project developers.

Also addressing the rally were fellow Nationals members Barnaby Joyce and Matt Canavan and One Nation’s Pauline Hanson.
