Local MP receives an apology in parliament

The Victorian Minister for Prevention of Family Violence has apologised to Mildura MP Jade Benham after walking out on a speech by the local.

The Nationals member was talking in Parliament about her personal experience of domestic violence where she almost died.

Vicki Ward says she respects MS Benham, but the local MP has told parliament the move was disrespectful.

The local had earlier also pressed the Minister to visit the region, saying the government needs to get on the ground and be practical when it comes to addressing family violence.
