Local Lifeline turns 1

A local Lifeline call centre has taken almost 25-hundred calls from people in crisis in its first year of operation.

The centre in Irymple opened in March last year, with the Sunraysia Lifeline Project saying it’s been a big year after pushing for a local facility over the past decade.

Sunraysia Connection committee chair and long-time Lifeline advocate Stephen Hegedus has told the Sunraysia Daily that local volunteers work between 6:00 and 10:00 in the evenings, with some weekend shifts, and have helped take pressure off other call centres.
