Lower Murray Water is reviewing its rural and irrigation services.
It’ll also be setting up a rural masterplan from the region between Nyah and the South Australian border.
The water authority says urban encroachment has left some old irrigation and drainage assets stranded, due to significant changes over the last decades.
The masterplan should be completed over the next 18-months, with a final document to be released by June 2026.
“We see this as a significant opportunity for Lower Murray Water to plan for how we see irrigation and rural water services will be provided in decades to come” said Chair of the LMW Board, Sharyon Peart.
$550,000 in funding has been received from the Victorian Government for the development of the Masterplan.
