Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has confirmed that investigations have begun on the intersection of Sixteenth Street and Deakin Avenue at a state level.

The local MP emphasised the severity of the situation, citing two fatalities and numerous serious injuries that have occurred at the intersection since 2009 in a meeting with the Minister.

The situation has become increasingly perilous, especially with the surge in traffic due to the growth of Mildura South and the bustling Mildura sporting precinct.

“The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) has advised me that it is investigating solutions at this location, including signalisation, to be considered in future programs,” said Ms Benham.

Additionally, the DTP has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Mildura Rural City Council to develop viable solutions and explore funding options.

“I am pleased to see the Department of Transport and Planning taking proactive steps to address traffic safety concerns in our community,” said the Member for Mildura.
