Gap between city and regional students continues

New data from this year’s NAPLAN tests have highlighted the ongoing gap between students in our major cities and those living in REGIONAL and RURAL AREAS.

Among the findings, just 24% of students from VERY REMOTE SCHOOLS were assessed to be “strong” or “exceeding” standards for reading, compared to 71% in our major cities.

Similar results were also recorded in numeracy, while the latest data again highlighted the need for additional support amongst Indigenous students.

CEO of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, Stephen Gniel says the results will help identify where there’s room for improvement.
