Wentworth Shire Council has successfully secured $616,000 of funding through the Crown Reserve Improvement Fund (CRIF), a programme that provides financial support for the development, maintenance, and improvement of Crown reserves across New South Wales.

The funding will support the construction of new female change rooms and toilet facilities at the Carramar Drive Sporting Complex, addressing a long-standing need identified by local sporting groups.

Council was initially approached by the Carramar Drive Sporting Complex user group, who highlighted that the existing female change rooms were inadequate and did not support or encourage women’s participation in sport.

Council undertook detailed consultation with the female sporting groups that regularly use the complex to better understand their needs and priorities.

The upgraded facilities are expected to encourage more frequent and longer visits from a broader cross-section of the community, particularly women, families, and young people.

This development aligns with both Council and NSW Government priorities for gender equity in sport, ensuring a higher quality experience for all users of the Carramar Drive Sporting Complex.
