First information session leading up to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day announced

Mildura Rural City Council is partnering with Seniors Rights Victoria to facilitate free information sessions for the community and professionals ahead of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on 15 June.

The first is the Professional Education Session – Recognising and Responding to Elder Abuse on Wednesday 5 June from 1:00pm to 2:30pm at the Powerhouse Place, Hugh King Drive Mildura.

This professionals-only forum will cover protecting the rights of older people to prevent elder abuse.

The session will feature Gary Ferguson, Education Co-ordinator of Seniors Rights Victoria, who will discuss different types of elder abuse, risks and how to respond and prevent it.

This free event is open to those whose work brings them into contact with older people in the community.

A light lunch is included.
