Authorities have been disappointed by some campers in the Mallee among others across the state after forty illegal fires were found over the long weekend.
The Conservation Regulator says they found dozens of examples of campers ignoring fire restrictions, extreme weather conditions and fire danger, as MILDURA reached as high as 40 degrees on Saturday.
Illegal campfires attract fines of as much as 19-thousand dollars.
