Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has announced Courtney Jack, a student at Mildura Senior College, and Asher Brigante, a student at St Joseph’s College, Mildura, as the 2026 Farnsworth Lochhead Lowe Scholarship recipients, earning the opportunity to trek the historic Kokoda Trail.
Auspiced by the Mildura RSL Sub-Branch, the Farnsworth Lochhead Lowe Scholarship is named in honour of local soldiers Private Raymond Farnsworth, Warrant Officer John Lochhead and Lance Corporal Edward Lowe, who each made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.
The scholarship supports participants to undertake the trek, deepening their understanding of the sacrifices made during World War II and the values of courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice.
During the trek, participants will visit key battle sites and learn about the experiences of those who served.
On their return, Courtney and Asher will take on the role of Kokoda Ambassadors, sharing their experiences with local schools, community groups and commemorative events across the region.
