An elderly man had died in hospital following an alleged serious assault and robbery in Broken Hill last month.
About 2:00pm on Sunday 13 September 2026, emergency services were called to a home on Argent Street, Broken Hill, following reports a man had been assaulted and robbed.
Police arrived and found a man, aged 81, with serious assault injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Broken Hill Hospital in a serious condition for further treatment of head injuries and fractured ribs.
Police were told a man, known to the older man, had allegedly demanded money and threatened him with a knife before assaulted him and stealing an amount of cash.
Following extensive inquiries, Police arrested a 38-year-old man in Dubbo, on Monday 14 September 2026.
He has since been charged and remains before the court.
Yesterday (Wednesday 30 September 2026), police were informed the 81-year-old had died in hospital.
A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
