Dwarf trees a good choice to combat fruit fly

Locals looking to plant trees over winter are being encouraged to look at dwarf trees, to help in the fight against fruit fly.

Agriculture Victoria says it’s important for those who live near commercial production areas across Sunraysia with the trees easier to access fruit below head height.

Fruit Fly Coordinator Cathy Mansfield is also urging residents to cover fruit trees with netting to stop the pest laying eggs.
