Public hospital doctors across regional Victoria, including here in Mildura, are set to go on strike later today (Thursday, 1 October) as they fight against long hours and poor working conditions.
For the first time in 25 years, doctors across the state will walk off the job between 1:30pm and 5:30pm, although emergency and critical care departments will be spared.
It comes as doctors say they’re being forced to routinely work shifts of up to 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, or even longer during emergencies.

Staffing across the hospital will remain at Saturday levels to protect patient safety and welfare.
