People with disability in regional areas are set to benefit from a share of $900,000 in funding for new research aiming to improve accessibility and safety across the community.

The money is being awarded through the National Disability Research Partnership to help accelerate recommendations made by the Disability Royal Commission.

NDRP Chief Executive, Mary Sayers, says the projects include efforts to support people with disability from refugee communities, as well as workers in our agriculture sector.

“These projects bring together researchers, community organisations, and policy stakeholders to build knowledge grounded in lived experience,” Ms Sayers says.

“They aim to improve safety outcomes for people with disability across a range of settings.”

The research is funded by the NDRP through a grant from the Australian Government as an initiative under Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031.
