Residents across the region who believe they were unfairly sold add-on insurance before July 2019 are being reminded they need to take action before the end of this month.
Known as Consumer Credit Insurance, or sometimes “junk insurance”, it was typically sold alongside home, car and personal loans, as well as novated leases and credit cards.
Significant problems with the older form of insurance were highlighted in several reviews, including concerns about inappropriate sales practices and poor product design.
Emma Curtis from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority says anyone who believes they were affected has until June 30 to lodge a complaint.
