About 9:00am on Sunday 26 April 2026, court staff were notified of an alarm being activated at the Broken Hill Courthouse.
Staff went to investigate and realised that an intruder had smashed a window and broken into the courthouse, stealing a ‘hard hat’ from within.
Police were called and commenced enquiries conducting a review of CCTV footage and obtaining clearer details of the offender

Later that night police located a 44-year-old male with Break, enter and Steal.
Police also recovered the property stolen at the accused residence.
He was bailed refused and put before the court.
He was subsequently given bail to attend court.
He next court appearance will be 12 May 2026
