Swan Hill Rural City Council have released details of a letter they have written to Premier Jacinta Allan to acknowledge and welcome the Victorian Government’s decision to freeze the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF) levy for primary production properties at current rates.
In the letter, they’ve also reiterated their position that the ESVF remains an unfair burden on their broader ratepayer base, and have urged the Premier to consider extending the freeze to include all rural communities.
The letter, signed by Mayor, Cr Stuart King, has thanked the Victorian State Government for listening to rural voices.
Mildura Rural City Council has also come out in opposition to the levy.
