Concerns over lack of firetruck replacements

There are concerns local fire crews don’t have enough equipment to deal with emergencies.

An aerial pumper truck based at Mildura Fire Station has been towed out of the region to be repaired following a mechanical fault.

The on-board water pump wouldn’t disengage following a callout near Cardross on the weekend.

The firefighter union has questioned why the truck has not be replaced, telling the Sunraysia Daily the service lifespan of the vehicle is 15 years, and the expiry is a Victoria wide problem.
