Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has voiced serious concerns regarding the safety and future of food and fibre producers in north-west Victoria, particularly in the Donald, Charlton, and Wycheproof areas, under the state’s accelerated planning pathways for renewable projects.
In a recent question to the Minister for Planning, Ms Benham highlighted the growing anxiety among local farmers and their families regarding the potential impact of these pathways, especially in relation to looming mineral sands mining projects.
The community is calling for clear, definitive answers from the government to ensure that their farms and families will be protected from any adverse effects of these renewable energy projects.
“Will the government guarantee the safety of these families and their farms, or will they allow them to be sacrificed for the sake of development?
The question remains unanswered, and the local community eagerly awaits a response that addresses their concerns.
