Community events put mental health challenges in the spotlight

Two events planned for the NSW side of the border will put mental health in the spotlight this month.

On Friday 17 October, A Night with Tom Boyd, will be open to all youth involved in sport, local families, and community members.

During an AFL Football career littered with individual and team success, fame and a fortune, Tom went through the most difficult time of his life at 22 years old.

Suffering severe insomnia, depression and anxiety that forced him to the sidelines.

This was the start of a new perspective, one that meant the traditional measures of success no longer motivated him.

In this presentation, Tom will share the tools and strategies he used to overcome the biggest challenges of his life, how to proactively manage your mental health, and how to turn your struggles into strengths.

And on Saturday 18 October there will be a screening of the film “Just a Farmer”, followed by a Q and A panel featuring several people including Leila McDougall, producer and actor in the film.

The movie portrays the challenges and triumphs of a resilient farmer in rural Australia.

Both events are to be held at George Gordon Oval, Dareton.

October is Mental Health Month.
