Six-hundred and eighty-five thousand dollars could be raised in the first year of a Mildura City Heart Rate.
Local councillors will decide later today whether to go ahead with the rate over the next six years, bringing it in from July.
A report to Mildura Rural City Council says vacant land will be exempt from the rate, with the money raised going towards marketing and business development of the city area.

The Mildura City Heart Committee approached Council in 2023 to request another term of the special rate scheme ahead of the existing term expiring on 30 June, 2024.
There are 369 properties within the boundary area of the proposed special rate scheme.
