Child car seat safety checks as changes are proposed on restraints

Wentworth Shire Council is hosting Free Child Car Seat Safety Checks, allowing the community to have their car seats inspected and keep their children safe while travelling in vehicles.

Wednesday 26 November 2025, 9:00am to 1:00pm at the Midway Centre, 3 Midway Drive, Buronga.

They are 20 minute appointments, and registration is required.

Meanwhile, motorists and residents across Sunraysia are being invited to have their say on proposed updates to the Australian Road Rules for child restraints.

The review is focusing on the use of child restraints, adult seatbelts and seating positions, children with medical conditions or disabilities, as well as taxi and ride-share services.

It comes as recent data reveals 75% of children fatally injured on the nation’s roads were not restrained in line with best practice for their age.

Chief Executive of the National Transport Commission, Michael Hopkins, says they particularly want to hear from parents and roads users from regional areas.
