Victoria Police have put the call out to all Firearms Licence Holders, Collectors & Prohibited Weapon Authority holders, asking if you have changed address recently, have you also updated your firearm licence and authorities?
They are asking that you check them as expired Licences and incorrect address and/or storage addresses can result in a $407 fine.
Significantly, it also results in renewal reminders being sent to an incorrect address.
You can become unlicensed to own firearms and that attracts significant penalties.
If your licence has expired, you must surrender your firearms to the nearest firearms dealer or Police station and make an application for a new licence.
Victoria Police will be continuing to undertake Storage Inspections to ensure compliance.
