The bee industry is transitioning from eradication of the Varroa Mite, with resources to be reallocated to managing and slowing the spread of the pest.
In the year since the parasite was first detected tens of thousands of bees have been euthanized.
Non-compliance from beekeepers and illegal hive movement is thought to be a major factor in the failed eradication effort.
