Campers urged to act responsibly over the long weekend

Anyone planning to camp in the Mallee over the weekend are being reminded to ensure they act responsibly.

The Murray Sunset National Park and other areas along the Murray are expected to be busy over the break.

Authorities say people need to be fire safe as they brace for the hot conditions, and that includes thinking twice about lighting a campfire.

There’ve been more than 170 unattended campfires reported across Victoria since the start of the year.

Authorities say unsafe and unattended campfires can have a devastating impact on the area.
