We’re being told to keep alcohol and swimming separate as many locals look to enjoy the warm weather this long weekend.
Mildura is in for temps in the high 20s and low 30 over coming days, with many looking to cool off in the Murray.
But Lauren Miller from Royal Life Saving says there have been a significant number of drownings in inland waterways where people have had a high blood alcohol content reading.

Royal Life Saving is asking local men in particular to be safe around the water this long weekend.
Males make up 84 per cent of summer drowning deaths this year.
