Over the weekend, police from the SA Water Operations Unit conducted a number of patrols throughout the Riverland.
The members attended Lake Bonney on Sunday to support competitors in the annual ‘Bushy triathlon’ where they conducted safety checks and alcohol testing on boat operators.
The next day, officers provided a safety briefing at the Berri Marina prior to the commencement of the 9th annual Mighty River Run and were on hand to discuss legislation and all things water safety with the participants.
Leading into a busy summer period, boat owners are encouraged to refresh themselves on water safety, lifejacket laws and the dos and don’ts while on the river.
