Findings from a new study are providing a timely warning for younger residents across Sunraysia and the Mallee about the threat of bowel cancer.

National data reveals cases of early onset bowel cancer have risen 8% per year over the past three decades, leading to more than 4,300 cases that would have otherwise not occurred.

The analysis also found bowel cancer incidence was two to three times higher among Australians born in the 1990s, compared to those born in the 1950s.
