Bathurst 1000 weekend gets underway

Practice sessions get underway today at Mount Panorama for the Bathurst 1000.

Mildura driver Cameron Waters and co-driver James Moffat will be competing for Tickford Racing.

Cam says a big weekend is coming up, with the one-hundred and sixty-one lap race happening on Sunday.

There’ll be two practice sessions today and another two tomorrow before qualifying starts.

Meanwhile race enthusiasts urged to travel safe ahead of this year’s race meet.

With more than 200,000 visitors expected at the Bathurst 1000, a high-visibility policing operation will be running involving general duties and specialist police targeting speeding, drink and drug driving, mobile phone use and seat-belt offences.

Operation Bathurst 2023 commences today, and will continue until Sunday (8 October 2023), to ensure the safety and security of competitors, officials and thousands of spectators expected at the Repco Bathurst 1000.
