The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is calling for individuals from around the Basin to express interest and represent their community as a member of the Basin Community Committee.
The Basin Community Committee provides independent advice to the MDBA and the Murray–Darling Basin Ministerial Council on a wide range of issues relating to water management in Australia’s biggest river system that 2.4 million people call home.
MDBA Chief Executive Andrew McConville said it was vital to have a committee that encompassed diverse perspectives and experiences from across the whole Basin.
“We are looking for people who are engaged with their community and have a genuine interest in water resource, environmental, cultural and socioeconomic matters relevant to the Basin,” Mr McConville said.
New tenures and reappointments will begin in April 2027 for a 3-year term and nominations will undergo an extensive selection process involving all Basin governments.
Nominations for expression of interest as a member of the Basin Community Committee close 11:30 pm Sunday 21 June 2026.
