Government website Smartraveller reviewed their advice for travel to Cambodia and Thailand due to conflict along the border.
They now advise Australians to reconsider your need to travel to the border areas of the northern and north-western provinces of Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey in Cambodia and Buriram, Si Saket, Surin and Ubon Ratchathani provinces in Thailand due to the armed conflict in the area.
Armed conflict between Thai and Cambodian military forces along the Thai-Cambodian border has increased.
This includes reports of military strikes, violence and the use of landmines in the border areas.
Follow the advice of local authorities, monitor local media for updates and pay close attention to your personal security.
Land border crossing points along the Thai-Cambodian border remain closed.
They advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Thailand and Cambodia overall due to security and safety risks.
Higher levels apply in some areas.
