Residents across Sunraysia and the Mallee who are living with asthma are being urged to speak to their GP and ensure their condition is being properly diagnosed and managed.
It comes as latest figures reveal the number of deaths from asthma has jumped 30% in Australia over the past year – the vast majority of those deaths being older women.
Experts attribute the sudden rise to an increase in influenza and other respiratory viruses but say most asthma deaths could be avoided.
