Annecto Incorporated has announced that after 70 years of dedicated community service across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory that it will be ceasing community services.
The organization says that the difficult decision follows careful deliberation and extensive stakeholder consultation which considered the service model shifts and financial challenges facing the organisation into the future.
Annecto supports over 3000 people with disabilities, members of the veteran community, and older adults to live independently and stay connected.
In a statement they said “Our focus now is working to transition our customers and services to other trusted providers who can continue delivering the support and assistance our customers expect and deserve.”
Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster, despairs that transition would not be ‘seamless’ but be more like limbo for regional Victorians, given what is an already dire workforce shortage.
“I worry about clients’ wellbeing if continuity of service cannot be secured,” Dr Webster said.
“I hope that both Annecto clients and staff get the comprehensive support and genuine transition they deserve through the Albanese Labor Government.”
The organization employed 1,130 support workers in the past year, according to their latest annual report.
