On Saturday, 20 July 2024, emergency services attended a home on Comebunyee Road, Coomealla, following reports of a house on fire.
A man and his two children escaped the home, however; their family dog, Lachy, was trapped inside for 30 minutes.
Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and saved the dog.

Lachy received some oxygen from NSW Ambulance paramedics before Traffic and Highway Patrol escorted him to the local vet where he has since made a full recovery.
