Alcohol continues to be a major factor in drowning

Life Saving Victoria says alcohol continues to be a major factor leading to drowning in the Murray River following the release of the annual drowning report.

LSV’s Dr Hannah Calverly is urging locals to not mix alcohol and swimming, and be safe around the Murray, particularly in unpatrolled areas.

Dr Calverly says while drowning deaths in the Murray fall under NSW jurisdiction, about fifty per cent of those involved in river drowning’s are Victorian.
