A discussion with NSW Government leaders, local farmers, businesses & community this week

Wentworth Shire Council, in partnership with Balranald Council and the Rural Services Network, is inviting all local residents, farmers, and business owners to a round table discussion this Wednesday, 4 February 2026.

Council says this is an opportunity to speak directly with decision-makers from Sydney about the specific challenges our region is facing regarding drought and seasonal conditions.

Ray Willis, the newly appointed NSW Drought Coordinator, is visiting specifically to hear a local perspective on whether current government assistance is hitting the mark.

Kim Broadfoot, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, will be talking about biophysical modelling and what to expect for the season ahead.

And council says it’s a chance to learn about the $250 million Drought Ready and Resilient Fund, low-interest loans, and other available tools.

The event is to held Wednesday night, 6:00pm to 9:30pm at the Wentworth Visitor Centre Conference Room with dinner provided.

Council asks attendees to register your attendance online via Humanitix or contact the Council directly.

The event is supported by the Rural Services Network, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, NSW Government, Balranald Shire Council, and Wentworth Shire Council.
