Ali Cupper has dropped out of the 2026 State Election race posting to social media “Goodnight and good luck”.
The local Mildura Rural City Councillor and former Mayor said, “Politics will break your heart”.
“I thought I knew that, but the heartbreak of losing the 2022 election was beyond words.”
“After 3 and a half years of running a multidisciplinary law practice from my kitchen table, it’s high time to expand. “In the past few months, exciting opportunities have arisen, and I want to see my business reach its full potential. It needs and deserves my full (and undivided) attention. I’m determined to give it that.”
“I’m withdrawing from the 2026 State Election Campaign, but I’m not leaving politics.”
“I love being a councillor; the fight for the hospital is far from over; and I’ll get the train back or die trying (we plan to keep the bastards honest on that promise).”
“Obviously, I didn’t want to lose the 2026 State election. But the bigger point was, I also didn’t want to win.”
“I just want to be home. The end.”
Cupper went on to thank many people including supporters, volunteers and her family.
