Herbie will take pride of place next to the Wentworth Pioneer Museum, following a restoration project jointly funded by Community Bank Wentworth and District and Wentworth Shire Council, as part of the bank’s 25th birthday celebrations in 2024.

Herbie had spent recent years residing on private property before the owners generously gifted the statue back to the community.

Given its size, the statue had to be carefully transported to its new site in individual sections — a true community effort from start to finish.

A number of skilled tradespeople then brought Herbie back to life, with local artist Leisa Cartwright and her team of helpers adding the artistic flair and finishing touches that have restored Herbie to his former glory.

The Wentworth Shire Council Garden crew then came in to transform the surrounding grounds, landscaping the area to create a fitting home for Herbie.
